Waterloo West High School in Waterloo, Iowa, needed to restore eight aging tennis courts that had experienced significant surface deterioration. Years of use and exposure to the elements had resulted in extensive cracking, birdbath areas, worn coatings, and an uneven overall appearance.
These conditions affected more than the look of the facility. Cracks and low areas where water collects can interfere with consistent play and continue to worsen if the underlying issues are not properly addressed.
With eight courts requiring renovation, the project needed a resurfacing approach that focused first on repairing damaged areas and properly preparing the existing pavement before new coatings were installed. Pro Track and Tennis was brought in to restore the tennis complex and provide Waterloo West High School with renewed playing surfaces for its student-athletes.
Pro Track and Tennis began the Waterloo West High School tennis court resurfacing project by addressing the existing surface damage across all eight courts. Extensive cracks and birdbath areas were repaired using ARMOR’s specialized crack repair system, helping prepare the courts for the resurfacing process.
After the necessary repairs were completed, the courts were thoroughly cleaned and prepared to create a suitable base for the new surface system. Proper preparation was especially important because the condition of the underlying pavement directly affects the quality and consistency of the finished courts.
A Nova Sports acrylic resurfacer was then applied across the prepared surfaces, followed by two color coats to restore the appearance and playing condition of the tennis complex. The resurfacing process provided the school with cleaner, more uniform courts while addressing the visible deterioration of the previous surfaces.
The project also expanded the flexibility of the facility by adding pickleball striping to one of the eight courts. This allowed Waterloo West High School to support an additional court sport within the existing tennis complex.
Completed in 10 days, the project transformed the aging courts into a refreshed and more functional athletic facility. Through crack repair, surface preparation, acrylic resurfacing, new color coatings, and multi-use striping, Pro Track and Tennis restored the Waterloo West High School tennis courts for continued school and athletic use.
