Byrnes Tennis Center Gets 16 Freshly Resurfaced Courts

Location:
Waterloo, IA
Facility Type:
Tennis Court | Pickleball Court
Challenge:
Byrnes Tennis Center is a 16-court public facility in Waterloo, and its asphalt courts were showing their age. About 4,073 linear feet of cracking ran across the site, from minor surface cracks to larger areas of deterioration. The courts needed resurfacing to restore their appearance and playing quality.
Solution:
Our crew filled the existing cracks, pressure washed and prepared every surface, and resurfaced all 16 courts with a new acrylic system in stadium blue in-bounds and grass green out-of-bounds. Fresh white tennis striping went down on every court. Six courts on the west side also received light blue pickleball lines, so players can use the existing tennis nets for both sports.
We worked in two phases, 10 courts first and then the remaining six, so the center kept its summer lessons and programs running throughout.
The renovation refreshed a major public facility and added pickleball to the mix. It also continued a long relationship with Byrnes, since we had resurfaced these courts before. The result is a vibrant, multi-use facility ready to serve the community for years to come.
“Ryan took charge. Ryan was very conscientious. He made sure that we had a lesson going on at the same time. They worked around our programs we had for the summer. … They were down here at 7 in the morning until 8 at night. So we’re very happy with the cost and the quality of the work.”
