What Midwest Winters Do to Courts and Tracks
Winter is hard on Midwest courts and tracks. Freeze-thaw cycles open cracks in asphalt, frost heave lifts the surface, and spring snowmelt pools in the low spots. Near the Great Lakes, lake-effect moisture adds to it. At Sauk Centre High School in Minnesota, a harsh winter left wide cracks across the courts and made several of them unusable.
Our standard fix for those cracks is the ARMOR Crack Repair System. A crew installs about 300 linear feet of it a day, so a badly cracked court can need days of repair before any coating goes down.
Weather also sets the calendar.
“We can’t install coatings below 60 degrees or on damp surfaces. For northern states, that means work windows are much shorter, mainly summer.”
Lance Laurent, President, Pro Track & Tennis

Book the assessment well before summer so we can schedule the work inside that window. A tennis court resurfacing job takes 5 to 10 days on site. Rain and cold nights can add days, because we won’t coat a surface that’s damp or too cold.

Tennis Courts We’ve Resurfaced in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Missouri, and Indiana
From 12 city and school courts in St. Joseph, Missouri, to eight high school courts in Sauk Centre, Minnesota, and six college courts at the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville, here is the tennis court work we’ve done in these states.
Every tennis job starts with an on-site assessment. See what tennis court resurfacing involves and how long it takes.
Pickleball Court Projects in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Michigan
Much of our pickleball work in these states happens on courts that also serve tennis. At Foley High School in Minnesota we resurfaced the tennis courts and added pickleball lines, and at Josten Park in Bellevue, Wisconsin, we restored dedicated pickleball courts. At Clintondale Community Schools in Clinton Township, Michigan, we converted three tennis courts into six pickleball courts.

Running Tracks We’ve Resurfaced in Illinois and South Dakota
A track takes the same winter punishment as a court, spread over a much bigger surface. At Harrisburg High School in South Dakota we resurfaced a track that was struggling with harsh winters. At Sacred Heart High School in Springfield, Illinois, we refreshed a base mat track with the World Athletics-certified CONIPUR SP system.
See what running track resurfacing involves, from crack repair to a structural spray or a full new mat.

Common Questions From Midwest Facilities
Summer, in most Midwest states. Acrylic court coatings can’t go down below 60°F or on a damp surface, so in northern states such as Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, and the Dakotas the work window is mainly summer. Book your free assessment well before then so the job fits inside that window.
Pro Track & Tennis works across Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin, including St. Louis, Kansas City, Chicago, Indianapolis, Minneapolis, Detroit, Milwaukee, and Columbus. We also work in Iowa, Nebraska, and Kansas. It’s all part of the 25+ states we serve, and our own crews do every job.
Pro Track & Tennis repairs them with the ARMOR Crack Repair System, our standard crack repair. A crew installs about 300 linear feet a day, and on courts the repair carries a 5-year warranty. If the asphalt underneath is crumbling, no crack repair will hold, and we’ll tell you the court needs a rebuild.
Pro Track & Tennis projects in the Midwest include Sacred Heart High School in Springfield, Illinois, and the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville. In Minnesota we’ve worked at Sauk Centre and Foley high schools, and in Missouri we resurfaced 12 city and school tennis courts in St. Joseph. In South Dakota we resurfaced the track at Harrisburg High School and tennis courts in Pierre. In Wisconsin we’ve worked on park courts in Waunakee, Suamico, Bellevue, and Arcadia, and refinished courts in Green Bay.
